The Fit Sommelier
I am excited to share my continuously evolving story on how fitness and becoming a “Fit Sommelier” has impacted my life! We all have our challenges when it comes to health and fitness. As a sales manager and Certified Sommelier for the largest winery in the world, I’m always on the go and surrounded by high calorie food from restaurants and alcoholic beverages at most work meetings. I’ve learned how to balance these challenges through my personal experiences with weight loss, teaching group fitness classes, and competing in fitness competitions.
“Cheers to your health and celebrating every step you take along the way to a healthier and better version of YOU!”

I went from being a confident, high school athlete in 2001 to 35 pounds overweight in 2005, a college student with low self-esteem, health issues, and low energy. After years of educating myself on health and fitness, I competed in my first bodybuilding competition and achieved a new level of healthy, fit, and confident in 2016.

My Story
It has been about a 10-year year journey to truly achieve the healthiest and best version of myself.
As an athlete in high school, I never had to worry about my weight. After I lost the weight, I started to explore exercise and discovered the importance of strength training and how it can change the shape of our bodies. From there, I started teaching group fitness classes and eventually started competing in bodybuilding shows in the bikini division. I fell in love with health and fitness and learning about the body and how it works. My experiences have led me to becoming a Fitness Nutrition Specialist, ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and a Professional Athlete for the Nspire Sports League.
As for the wine….it can be intimidating also! I spent several years studying and learning about wine during college as a hospitality management major and afterwards working in sales for my company. A Certified Sommelier is considered an “expert” when it comes to wine. To become a sommelier, you first must pass an introductory course and written exam. To get to the second level, a Certified Sommelier, you have to pass an all-day exam that includes a written exam, blind tasting, and service component. All three components must be passed. Similar to the fitness world, there is a lot of confusing information out there about wine. What are the best kinds? Which wines pair best with certain foods? How do we even open the bottle? My goal is to share my experiences in the wine industry with you in hopes that I can ease the intimidation factor and help you to enjoy it even more!
How to live a healthy lifestyle can be confusing. What should we eat? What exercises are best? It is my goal to share what I know with all of you so that it doesn’t take you the ten years it took me to be fit and confident! Being healthy is about finding balance and celebrating our wins along the way. I’m here to simplify fitness and wine for you so that you can live your healthiest life to its fullest. Salud!
